MAMY BLUE
Hi folks,
first of all I'm sorry for my very inperfect English but I hope you can understand me.
About the song: the right tile is MAMY BLUE, it was sung during the 70s by: POP TOPS (an English band so the name is without 'LOS' that is a Spanish article as 'THE' in English) and was an hit in Italy at the 1st place for 11 weeks during the last months of 1971, then it was sung by DALIDA (a very famous French singer during the end of the 60s) that sung it in French during the 70s but after the POP TOPS hits and in Italy never entered in the hits (maybe in France but I have not any news about it) and finally an Italian version was sung by Johnny Dorelly that was (even if he is still alive and still working) a famous 70s singer, TV, movie and theater actor.
I never heard about any Spanish version of the song (if you have some news about it please let me know). I'm looking for information about a version of Ivana Spagna (I asked directly to her fan club and I hope they could answer me) but I never heard about it and I think it's not true. May be that you find some news about the song in Italian web pages end if you tell me where I can find and if someone is interested, I can try to translate and if you think my English can satisfy you. I can try to do this even with Franch or Spanish pages even if it will be harder 'cause I don't know that languages so much well as English.
Hoping to be of some help for your love for this song I say good bye to everybody and let me wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

MAMY BLUE
Thanks Dan: I know the version by Nicoletta, Demis Rousseau and the Italian one by Dalida even if in the same period here in Italy Demis and her were most popular with other songs (Dalida with the French version of MAMY BLUE while the Italian one was sung by Johnny Dorelly with the same lyric). I never heard about LOS POP TOPS, that really is a Spanish group unknown here even if I think it is not the same known in Italy who sang the English version of the song during the 70s (that here was 1st in the top ten for 11 weeks).
The other I didn't know and I discovered some good version, but the instrumental I don't like.
Thank you again

How about CÉSAR ET LES ROMAINS version - think it was about 1968?? if so it may be the first version - If not 68 then probably 70/71.- believe they were a French Canadian group.

Thanks for the clips, Dan!

By the way, that Roger Whittaker clip is not the version that was released, which was MUCH better.

MAMY BLUE
I don't think we're any closer to solving this one. Clearly Frenchman Hubert Giraud wrote the song around about 1970 and hawked it to a number of different singers in different countries in different languages including Joel Dayde, Ivana Spagna, Nicoletta, Los Pop Tops, Cesar et les Romains, Roger Whittaker. ALL these versions were released in 1971, so it's anybody's guess which was released first. Maybe only Giraud can answer this question for us. ;o) However, Dayde remains one of the frontrunners...

MAMY BLUE
Thank you Dan and hi everybody.
Here I am after a long working travel abroad.
I found the replay to my answer from the Ivana Spagna Fan Club and they assured me that Spagna (at the age of 16) was the frist to sing MAMY BLUE. I can not control so I think it was the first as every singer in the year 1971.

That's all.
Bye

MAMY BLUE
The only version I remember is the Pop Tops version, in my opinion it's still the best.

Please, see the replay of Dan, and even all the other, so you can discover other people who sung MAMY BLUE. About the best version this is too much personal!
Bye
