70s R&B song, female singer/group... please help!!!
I remember back in Chicago in the late 1970s-early 1980s, WJPC was a popular R&B station. At that time they only broadcast until sunset, and they used to close out their broadcast day with a lovely ballad which may have been called "Stay Awhile With Me". I'm not sure if that's the proper title and I have no clue who the singer or group is (it's a female singer with female backup vocals). Here
are some of the lyrics as I remember them (from the chorus):
"So stay awhile with me,
Just stick around and see what happens,
What will be will
be,
And we'll live each day as it comes"
The female backup singers then sing "Stay awhile with me" two times before each verse, and the song fades out with them repeating "Stay awhile with
me".
From what I remember, even back then this was a hard song to find anywhere and I'm pretty sure people would tape it off the radio. I've tried Google and have come up empty... any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
