Need Help With a 60's song
The lyrics went something like:
There's a pink one and a green one and a blue one
and a yellow one and they all look like little (or tiny)
boxes and they all look just the same. The song was about
the new suburbs in the USA that were popping up all
over the country. I think a group sang it - I thought it
was someone like Peter, Paul and Mary but can't find it in
their music. It was certainly their style.
Anyone know the name of the song or who sang it ????????

LITTLE BOXES

Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky.

Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same.

There's a pink one and a green one and a blue one and a yellow one,

And they're all made out of ticky tacky, and they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses all went to the university

Where they were put in boxes, and they came out all the same.

And there's doctors and there's lawyers, and business executives

And they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course and drink their martinis dry,

And they all have pretty children and the children go to school.

And the children go to summer camp and then to the university

Where they are put in boxes and they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business and marry and raise a family

In boxes made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.

There?s a pink one and a green one and a blue one and a yellow one,

And they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.

Need Help With a 60's song
I'm betting the version of the song you heard was by Pete Seger recorded in 1964.

Need Help With a 60's song
And you would be absoutely RIGHT !!! I followed the link from Malvina to Peter Seger and found the rendition I was looking for. Peter Seger sounds very much like Peter(?) or Paul(?) of Peter, Paul and Mary fame and that is the reason I had always thought it was their music. 1964 would be the right year as that is the year I graduated from high school. Thanks for all the help, Mary

Malvina Reynolds: Song Lyrics and Poems

lyrics lyrics lyrics lyrics words words words song song song

Little Boxes
Notes: words and music by Malvina Reynolds; copyright 1962 Schroder Music Company, renewed 1990. Malvina and her husband were on their way from where they lived in Berkeley, through San Francisco and down the peninsula to La Honda where she was to sing at a meeting of the Friends? Committee on Legislation (not the PTA, as Pete Seeger says in the documentary about Malvina, ?Love It Like a Fool?). As she drove through Daly City, she said ?Bud, take the wheel. I feel a song coming on.?

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky,1
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All went to the university,
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same,
And there's doctors and lawyers,
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course
And drink their martinis dry,
And they all have pretty children
And the children go to school,
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university,
Where they are put in boxes
And they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business
And marry and raise a family
In boxes made of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

Need Help With a 60's song
I am searching for the same group singing this song and have only been able to find Malvena Reynolds and Pete Seeger. But, I remember a group and it was on the hit parade back in the 60's. They, also, sang a song about a hole in the roof, I think. Were you ever able to find out the name of the group?

Need Help With a 60's song
The song title is "Little Boxes" the artists may have been the Kingston Trio but wouldn't hold my breath on that one.
