Unknown Instrumental Tune
Hi,
Today I listened to an old reel-to-reel taperecording I?ve made in the early 60?s. I ran into an instrumental tune and I wonder what this is. You can hear the tune by clicking on the following link:

Is there anyone who knows what this tune is and what group it is?
Any sugestions are welcome.
Greatings from Holland,
Tony

Thanks for your reaction, Dan, but this song was recorded a long time before Frank Mills' Music Box Dancer (1978)!
My "Unknown Instrumental" was recorded in the late 50's or even the early 60's.

All I can tell you is it's based on Mozart's Minuet. Yes it sounds like it's early 1960s - there were a lot of acts doing remakes of old classics at the time, eg Kokomo, B. Bumble and the Stingers, Second City Sound. I checked out some Kokomo tracks and found his version of Mozart's Minuet called 'Twentieth Century Drawing Room', and the tune is exactly the same, but it's a different arrangement. Back to the drawing board!

It's based on a Mozart's Sonata in C(K545). From what I can see online, it's by Raymond Scott and called "In an 18th Century Drawing Room".

edit: upon listening to the post below mine, apparently that's not it.

Hi Suzygirl,
Thank you very much for your reaction.
I knew the tune was Mozart-related: I played some 40 years ago the "original" on the piano!
The title you mentioned is the "mistery song", but I don't know the version played by Raymond Scott.
Do you know if it is available on any CD?
Greetings from Holland,
Tony

I believe Raymond Scott was a conductor for the TV series "Hit Parade" back in the 1950's. This song seems like it's from the early 1940's. It certainly doesn't sound like it was recorded in the 50's, does it?

Anyone know when this tune was recorded?

Whatever that version of Mozart's tune is, Tony, it's absolutely great! I hope you find out who did it.
