1960's one hit wonder - The Vegetables: I Still Love You
Ok, this one is a tough one. Does anyone know the song called "I Still Love You" done by a band named The Vegetables? Maybe it was only played in San Francisco as we were a little more experimental in those days. BUT, I cannot even find a reference to such a band on the web!

Not even looking up lyrics. The lyrics go something like this: I still love you even though I know I shouldn't

Anyone? I remember the song like it was yesterday, and it is a good song, I am amazed it is not listed anywhere at all.

Wow - I have been searching the net for years to find something about the Vegetables. I graduated from Loyola(Los Angeles, now LMU) in 1970 and the campus radio station used to play 'I Still Love You' a lot, but mostly because I requested it on a regular basis! Can't believe it's taken this long to find a kindred soul.

I remember this song from 1966 or earlier. I got a lot of air play in San Francisco on KYA am or KMPX.
As for tempo it was either 4/4 time or 3/4 time the arangement was very similar to early Byrd's recordings. The Byrd's song
"Feel a whole lot better(when your gone) it about as close as I
could guess. also listen to "We Five group you were on my mind.
The Vegetables were a good group that faded all to soon. they had that early S.F. sound.

When I FINALLY discovered that the group name is spelled VEJTABLES (!) I was able to find a lot more history, including a couple videos on you-tube. Watched 'I Still Love You' WAY too many times - can't get that song outta my head!!

Bruce,

I have that song and it is great. It;s on my list of great hits from the bottom of the charts. Pre-psychedlia Frisco pop. It got enough radio play around the US to reach #84 on Billboard in late 1965.

Number 84, it seems some of the very best were lower on the charts. I was able to buy the song and I can now hear it any time I want. What is even better is when I play the song and my 21 year old song says he loved the unique sound.

Okay! Cool! I have been for years trying to find info on the Vejtables "I still love you". All my friends and relatives think I am nuts cause they never heard of it or them. I have the 45 I bought new when it was popular, It seems to me that it was played a lot in about 1965 or so, and on KFRC am in S.F., and seems it usually followed The Castaways "Liar, Liar". I grew up in Southern Oregon, but hung a lot in S.F. and Sacramento, don't know where I bought it, Oh well, still have it!! Thanks all! Gary

Heres yer lyrics -->>
(C'mon--sing it with me, now !)

I Still Love You
( Jan Errico - aka - Jan Ashton )

( As Performed by The Vejtables )

I still love you even though I know I shouldn't
I still want you even though I know it wouldn't
Do me any good to say I love you more each day
For I know, now, that your love for me has gone astray

When I held you in my arms the other night
I could tell that something just wasn't right
My love for you was not returned in that same old way
Then I knew that very soon there would come a day when I'd lose you

Oh yeah - when I'd lose you

Everyone told me, this would happen someday
But, all I did was laugh and say,
"Now you're just jealous (oh yeah)
'cause I've got a love that's true" (don't you know)
But now, I realize that they were only trying to help me

When I held you in my arms the other night
I could tell that something just wasn't right
My love for you was not returned in that same old way
Then I knew that very soon there would come a day when I'd lose you

Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
