"It's Over" Jimmie Rodgers?????
"If time were not a moving thing and I could make it stay this hour of love we share would always be...etc...."
I can find online references to it being done by Jimmie Rodgers, Elvis and Glen Campbell among others.
I'd like to know who made it popular and had the big hit with it???

''It's Over'' Jimmie Rodgers?????
Well Jimmie Rodgers wrote it and had a small hit with it in 1966 (we're talking #37 on Billboard) so I guess Jimmie's your man. I can't think of any other hit versions. Vic?

''It's Over'' Jimmie Rodgers?????
I know this song extremely well, and I know Jimmie Rodgers extremely well. Jimmie did write this song ("It's Over") and he had the only charted version of it. And all other factoids in your post were also correct, it was also recorded by Glen Campbell and Elvis, but none charted except Jimmie's.

This is a wonderful song, probably his best ever, and should've received more airplay (OK, so it's my opinion):-)

To this day I listen to this song regularly. I ask what images the following lyrics can conjure up:

"So I turn my back, I turn my collar to the wind,
move along in silence trying not to think at all,
I send my feet before me, walk the silent streets before me,
It's over."

Now you can see why I still listen to this song often.
Don't get me started on talking about Jimmie Rodgers, he's the only singer I know of that could sing the phone book and make you want to go out and buy a copy.
