60's-70's (I think) Put Together Songs
I'm looking for any of the songs that came out that were a compilation of various songs put together to make another song. I don't remember what genre they called them & can't remember a single title. Most, but not all, of them were supposed to be funny. I hope someone out there remembers them!!! Thanks!!!

60's-70's (I think) Put Together Songs
Dickie Goodman put together a heap of records in the 60s and 70s, in the style of a mock interview or documentary: Dickie asks a question, and the answer is a line from a popular song. Is that what you mean? 'Mr Jaws' was one of the biggest - but there are many others.

Originally it was (Bill) Buchanan and )Dickie) Goodman in 1956. Their first "Break-in" record (as this type of novelty records are called) - and their most famous was called "Flying Saucer" (on Luniverse Records) and was in the form of a news reporter interviewing various people on the subject that a flying saucer had landed. The interviewees answers were music clips from the day's hit records. The record went to #3 on Billboard.

Buchanan and Goodman followed with Flying Saucer the Second, and then BUchanan and Goodman on Trial. Later, Goodman went on his own and recorded several break-in records such as the ones mentioned by Pete.

No problem. Buchanan and Goodman pretty much cornered the market with these discs, but one track you should add to your list is 'Moonflight' by Vic Venus, if only for historical reasons - it came out around the time of the Apollo moon landing in 1969. Vic Venus was actually a guy whose real name was Jack Spector. 'Moonflight' was a cut-up record issued on the Buddah label, and consequently they had the rights to all the big 'bubblegum' hits of the day - Ohio Express, 1910 Fruitgum Company etc.
